Patersbier, or, in other words, Belgian single, is a truly unusual, almost mythical beer. While historically, dubels and tripels were brewed for sale in Trappist monasteries to financially support the activities of the priests, Patersbier ("fathers' beer") was brewed specifically for consumption by the monks themselves, and it very rarely left the borders of these very monasteries. In our first approach to the mysterious classic, a simple barley malt bill, abbey yeast, light alcohol content and sparing hopping remained faithful to the original. But then Malanka, like true blasphemers, could not help but deconstruct the sacred and added fresh Asian lemongrass to the brew. And although our Dogma is not a canon, it is definitely an interesting way to touch on simple beer, which has always been a little closer to God (if he or she exists, of course).
