​The blending of this mighty Barleywine was a bit more complex than usual, as we discarded several barrels that did not pair well with our first choice (an Imperial Stout aged in ex-Apple Brandy barrels). ​The final blend was achieved using an ex-Rye Whiskey barrel containing a barleywine brewed exclusively with Maris Otter, our Pilsner, Munich malt, and over 8 hours of boiling. With an average maturation of 16 months, the blend achieves a balance that neither beer could have reached on its own. ​The warm notes of whiskey and wood intertwine with the fruity and spicy nuances of the apple brandy, supporting a rich base of caramel, ripe fruit, cocoa, and toasted wood. Every element finds its place, while the alcohol content holds together a muscle-bound yet delicate structure.
